The Council for Wisconsin Writers is a non-profit organization focused on supporting and nurturing the community of writers in the state of Wisconsin. On July 27, 2022, the Board of Directors convened to vote on the dissolution of the CWW and the transfer of its assets and functions to another organization. This vote was taken after adequate notice was given to all members of the organization in accordance with the CWW by-laws. The outcome was a unanimous agreement to dissolve the CWW.
As per the Wisconsin State requirements, the Board has proceeded to file Form 110, the Articles of Dissolution Non-Stock, Not For Profit Corporation, to make the dissolution effective by August 31, 2022. This decision by the Board means that the Council for Wisconsin Writers organization will no longer exist beyond this date.
Despite the dissolution of the CWW, the annual Wisconsin Writers Contest will not be discontinued. The Arts + Literature Laboratory based in Madison, WI will take over the event. The Laboratory is a multi-faceted organization dedicated to fostering engagement with the arts and literature. Information about past Wisconsin Writers Awards and a history of the Council for Wisconsin Writers can be found on the CWW's online platform.
For details about future contests, including deadlines and how to enter, along with other opportunities and programs for writers, individuals are advised to visit the Arts + Literature Laboratory's website. The organization will take over all literary programs previously offered by the CWW.
Regarding any queries, the Co-President of CWW, Ron Czerwien, can be contacted for questions related to the Council. For any information about the Arts + Literature Lab, interested parties are directed to Rita Mae Reese, a representative of the Lab.
Verdict: the Council for Wisconsin Writers will cease to exist as an organization, with its functions and assets transferred to the Arts + Literature Laboratory. This process is scheduled to take effect from August 31, 2022, with the annual Wisconsin Writers Contest and other related activities to continue under the Lab's oversight.
