The Launch of Sybase
Sybase is a relational database management system. Mark Hoffman, Bob Epstein, Tom Haggin and Jane Doughty developed this system in 1984. The development process took place in Bob Epstein's home in Berkeley, California. At this time, this group of developers referred to the database system as SystemWare. It was in 1986 that the group released the first test program. The official launch of the program came in May 1987 under the name of Sybase System. Dublin, California is now the official headquarters of Sybase.

SAP AG, popularly known as SAP owns this database system. SAP is an international German software company. It is one of the largest software companies in the world. This company bought Sybase in May 2010 for $5.8 Billion. SAP had incorporated all the employees at Sybase into its workforce by October 2012. However, it is important for you to note that Sybase exists as a standalone subsidiary of SAP.
